Design Watch: Floating City
Tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of the devastating Haitian earthquake. An estimated 250,000 homes were lost in the quake and 1,000,000 people left homeless. The good news is that people are still committed to finding a sustainable solution for the country that was rocked by this natural disaster.
Tangram 3DS
Inhabit, a blog devoted to green design, reports that architects E. Kevin Schopfer and Tangram 3DS have proposed a design for a floating city that would be fully sustainable and resistant to hurricanes and other natural disasters. Dubbed “Harvest City,” this truly unique town features farmland, homes and a canal system. While it could only house 30,000 resident, the architects hope it would serve as a new economic model for developing nations.
